Vasily Smirnov was born in St.Petersburg, Russia 1975.
Academy of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg
Member of the Federation of Russian Artists.

Vasily graduated with Full Honours in 2001 from the Academy of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg and was qualified with ‘Exceptional Distinction’.
Vasili’s style remains wholly influenced by the famed St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts’ traditional 6-year training. The beauty of the imperial capital is reflected in his style, reminiscent of Russia’s ‘Silver Age’ such as Serov, Borisov-Musatov, Benois. Vasili, who formerly taught Fine Art in St. Petersburg is now a freelance artist and works together with his wife, Elena Fillipova, also an artist. His paintings (including exquisite examples of ‘trompe l’oeil’) hang in private collections in the USA, Canada, France, Spain, Finland, Belgium, Holland, Estonia, Japan and the UK.

He has exhibited in Hamburg (1998), Helsinki (1999), at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg (1998, 1999 and 2000) Saint-Petersburg Union of Artist exhibition hall (2009), and in London (Lukeart 2003 and the Belgravia Gallery 2005 and 2006). Vasili is married with a young son and daughter.
